Chicago, IL – Child Hit & Seriously Injured By Electric Bicycle at Fullerton & Keeler Aves

Chicago, IL - Child Hit & Seriously Injured By Electric Bicycle at Fullerton & Keeler Aves

Chicago, IL (July 5, 2022) – On Thursday afternoon, June 30, a 6-year-old girl was run over while standing on a sidewalk on Chicago’s Northwest side by a teenager on an electric bicycle.

The event happened outside the Corral’s Apartment complex on Fullerton Avenue, near Keeler Avenue. The adolescent, who was only identified as 16 years old, fled the scene but was apprehended by cops a few blocks down the street.

The 6-year-old girl was transported to Community First Hospital, where she was originally classified in fair condition. They immediately took her to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where physicians discovered she had far more serious injuries, including internal bleeding.

The child is currently healing in the hospital, but there is no word on when she will be released. No citations were issued, according to Chicago Police Department officers, and it’s unclear if an investigation is continuing at this time.

We extend our sincere thoughts and best wishes to the victim’s family and loved ones.

Pedestrian Injuries in the Chicago Area

Despite a general drop in mortality from other types of car accidents, the number of pedestrian deaths in the United States has increased by more than 31% in recent years. Illinois, which has some of the most densely populated cities and walkable neighborhoods in the country, including Chicago, Springfield, and Bloomington, is suffering from this dreadful trend. Pedestrians suffer an increased risk of severe injury or death on the packed streets of these densely populated places.

In fact, Cook County has the highest pedestrian death rate in the state. According to authorities, pedestrian deaths reached a five-year high in 2019, with over 100 pedestrians wounded in Cook County alone.

When dealing with the traumatic aftermath of a severe accident, victims may feel as if they have nowhere to turn, whether they are dealing with persistent health issues, physical agony, or significant medical expenses. As a result of their injuries, pedestrian accident victims may die, leaving grieving families to deal with growing bills, lost earning potential, and funeral costs, in addition to the indescribable pain of losing a loved one.

If you or a loved one has been injured or killed in a pedestrian accident, you may have access to a variety of legal alternatives in the future. You may learn that you are entitled to complete and fair monetary reparation after speaking with a Chicago automobile accident attorney.

Those who have been wounded as a result of another motorist’s carelessness or distracted driving may seek compensation from the irresponsible or distracted driver under the Illinois Wrongful Death Act. If a case is successful, family members and dependents are compensated.

As a consequence, following one of these crashes, family members must contact an Illinois accident attorney as quickly as possible. When you are involved in a preventable accident or have lost a loved one, the D&W Law Group will go to any length to ensure that you get the maximum amount of compensation to which you are entitled.

  • "Excellent Law Firm!"

I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
