Chicago, IL – Four Teenagers Killed, Three Hurt in Three-Car Crash at Dundee & Schoenbeck Rds

Chicago, IL - Four Teenagers Killed, Three Hurt in Three-Car Crash at Dundee & Schoenbeck Rds

Chicago, IL (May 17, 2023) – Four high school students were tragically killed, and several others were hurt in a three-vehicle accident in the Chicago suburb of Wheeling on Tuesday evening, May 16.

Four teenagers, aged 16 to 18, were traveling in one of the vehicles that was involved in the fatal collision.

Officers with the Wheeling Police Department said that at about 10:20 p.m., the three-vehicle wreck occurred at the corner of Dundee Road and Schoenbeck Road, leaving three other persons injured and knocking out electricity to the area after one of the drivers hit a power pole.

According to a police statement, speed and a disregarded traffic signal are the primary factors contributing to the wreck.

No additional details have been released in the meantime, though WPD officers are still investigating the incident at this time.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the deceased victims. Our thoughts remain with the injured victims and their loved ones in hopes of their full recovery.

Deadly Vehicle Wrecks in Chicagoland

According to government figures, more than 96,000 individuals were injured or died in automobile accidents in Illinois last year. Over a thousand horrifying things occurred, and as a consequence, over 970 people died. According to government records, driving while intoxicated, colliding with immovable objects, and traveling at high speeds are the main contributors to deadly automobile accidents.

The bulk of traffic accidents in and around Cook County occur at congested crossings. Recent state figures show that more than 25% of all car accidents in Illinois occur in the Chicago metropolitan region.

The careless motorist who brings about an avoidable traffic accident is responsible for the victim’s losses. Whatever the discussion’s outcome, this is still true. Patients must also cope with the stress and misery of mental suffering and mounting medical costs, horrifying injuries, and other financial concerns.

You may be entitled to file a lawsuit if you or a loved one suffers as a result of one of these illnesses. You should speak with a lawyer as soon as possible if you were not at fault in a car accident in Chicago.

You have the right to hold the responsible party accountable and demand that they fully compensate you for your injuries. Of course, vehicle accident victims in Illinois are strongly advised to consult with a lawyer as soon as possible following their collision since doing so on their own may make it very challenging to receive enough compensation from the at-fault drivers or their insurance companies.
