Chicago, IL – Man Killed, Victim Hospitalized After Hit-and-Run on DuSable Lake Shore Dr

Chicago, IL - Man Killed, Victim Hospitalized After Hit-and-Run on DuSable Lake Shore Dr

Chicago, IL (March 25, 2023) – Chicago police say one man died and another was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision on the city’s North Side early on Saturday.

A car accident occurred about 7:15 a.m. in the 4300 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago police said.

Recent police reports indicate a 36-year-old male was operating a southbound SUV with a single passenger. A short time later, an unidentified driver in a white SUV heading in the same direction changed lanes and collided with the first vehicle before speeding away.

Doctors at Illinois Masonic Hospital pronounced the 31-year-old passenger dead shortly after he arrived. The driver, meanwhile, was taken there in critical condition.

Chicago police are looking into it, namely their Major Accidents Unit. The police did not immediately issue a statement providing any information about the crash.

Our deepest condolences go out to the deceased victim’s loved ones. Our thoughts are with the injured victim in hopes of a complete recovery.

Fatal Hit-and-Run Crashes in Chicago

Pedestrian deaths in the United States have increased by about 40% in recent years, with many of these incidents being the result of hit-and-run drivers. Chicago and Springfield, two of America’s most populated and walkable cities, are both located in Illinois. Pedestrians also stand a higher risk of death or serious injury on the streets of these highly populated areas.

However, other motorists might be impacted by hit-and-run accidents, in which a driver crashes another vehicle and then flees the scene.

Victims of a catastrophic catastrophe may feel helpless in the face of ongoing physical pain, intense mental anguish, and/or substantial financial commitments. Many people who are involved in accidents don’t make it, leaving behind mourning loved ones and funeral costs.

You may be able to bring a lawsuit for damages after a vehicle accident that caused you harm or the death of a loved one. A Chicago car accident attorney can help you determine whether or not you have a case and whether or not you are entitled to financial compensation.

Victims of traffic accidents caused by the carelessness or recklessness of another driver in Illinois can file a lawsuit under the state’s Wrongful Death Act. The plaintiff’s dependents and family members are entitled to compensation in the event of successful litigation.
