Injuries Sustained in Chicago Pedestrian Accidents

In recent years, the number of pedestrian fatalities in the United States has climbed by more than 33%, despite a general decline in mortality resulting from other forms of vehicle accidents. Illinois, home to a number of the nation’s most populous and walkable cities, including Chicago, Springfield, and others, is afflicted by this dreadful tendency. The risk of serious injury or death for pedestrians is sadly amplified on the crowded streets of these highly populated areas.

Cook County has the state’s highest pedestrian fatality rate. In 2019, authorities claim pedestrian deaths surpassed a five-year record, with over 110 pedestrians killed in Cook County alone.

When faced with the heartbreaking aftermath of a major catastrophe, victims may feel powerless, whether they are experiencing ongoing health problems, physical discomfort, or massive medical expenditures. Occasionally, pedestrian accident victims die due to their injuries, leaving bereaved families to deal with rising bills, lost earning potential, burial expenses, and the unimaginable grief of losing a family member.

You might have many legal options if you or a loved one were wounded or killed in a pedestrian accident. After talking with a Chicago vehicle accident lawyer, you may realize that you are entitled to full and reasonable financial compensation.

Under the Illinois Wrongful Death Act, those injured due to another driver’s negligence or inattention may seek compensation from that driver. In the event of a successful lawsuit, dependents and family members get compensation.

Therefore, it is imperative that family members contact an experienced Illinois accident attorney immediately after one of these events. When you have been involved in a preventable accident or have lost a loved one, the D&W Law Group will do all possible to ensure you get the maximum compensation to which you are entitled.
