Chicago, IL - Pedestrian Fatally Hit by CTA Bus at Ashland Ave & 47th St

Chicago, IL (February 15, 2023) – A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a Chicago Transit Authority bus in the Chicago area on Tuesday, February 14. 

The deadly accident took place at the intersection of Ashland Avenue and 47th Street at around 2 p.m. A 28-year-old man was crossing 47th Street when he was hit by the bus and pinned underneath it. Emergency responders had to use airbags to lift the bus and free the victim. 

The pedestrian was transported to the University of Chicago hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. No charges have been filed at this time, and the identity of the deceased has been withheld. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is in progress.
