Chicago, IL (June 27, 2022) – Over the weekend, a fire in Humboldt Park claimed the lives of three children, aged 4, 6, and 11, and injured two adults.

On Sunday shortly before 12:30 a.m., the Chicago Fire Department responded to a residence between Potomac Avenue and Pulaski Road. According to witnesses, firemen quickly began CPR on the children before transporting them to the hospital.

A 4-year-old boy was declared dead at Saint Mary Hospital after being treated for smoke inhalation. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s said that two other boys, ages 6 and 11, also perished in the fire. Another child was hospitalized in serious condition.

Additionally, two adults were hurt in the incident. A 40-year-old woman was transferred to West Suburban Hospital, and a 35-year-old man was transported to Saint Mary’s; both were treated for smoke inhalation and are in stable condition.

The origin of the fire is being investigated, and no additional details have been revealed to the public at this time.
