Chicago, IL – Three Hurt After House Fire on Spruce Rd in Homewood

Chicago, IL - Three Hurt After House Fire on Spruce Rd in Homewood

Chicago, IL (August 30, 2022) – A fire broke out at 2504 Spruce Road in Homewood on August 29th, killing a pet and injuring a fireman and two other residents.

Chief Bob Grabowski of the Homewood Fire Department said two people were home when the fire started, and both escaped with minor injuries.

When asked what time the call came in, he stated it was at 1:40 p.m. In around 20 minutes, the fire was put out, though it took nearly two hours for crews to get to the area.

The house was severely damaged, Grabowski added. No more information has been released at this time on the cause of the fire, however, and the investigation remains ongoing.

We are thinking about the wounded and hoping for the best for their speedy recoveries.

Chicagoland’s Rate of House Fires

Although apartment and other residential fires don’t necessarily happen often, they account for around 12% of all fire deaths and close to 22% of all fire injuries. In addition, homes have been the target of almost 29% of all fires reported in the last five years.

An additional 344,000 residential fires were responded to each year by fire departments across the United States, resulting in an estimated 2,400 deaths, 12,000 injuries, and close to $8 billion in property damage.

Those who have lost everything in a house fire may feel helpless in the face of ongoing emotional anguish and mounting financial obligations. Injured people and their families frequently face an uphill struggle when getting compensation from insurance companies, causing unimaginable suffering.

Despite everything, you may still have legal choices during this difficult time. Get in touch with a personal injury lawyer in Chicago immediately if you or a loved one were hurt in a fire resulting from someone else’s carelessness.

Injured parties in Illinois may seek monetary compensation by filing a negligence lawsuit. Claims for illegal death may be brought in cases of either carelessness or willful misconduct leading to death. All dependents and family members are entitled to financial compensation in the case of a successful legal action.

These are just a few of the many reasons why it is critical for anyone who has been hurt or lost a loved one in an avoidable fire to consult with an attorney as soon as possible after the blaze has been put out.
