Chicago, IL – Two Hospitalized After Apt Complex Fire on W 91st St

Chicago, IL - Two Hospitalized After Apt Complex Fire on W 91st St

Chicago, IL (September 28, 2022) – The Chicago Fire Department reported Tuesday that two individuals were critically hurt in an apartment fire at a four-story structure in the Brainerd area.

Authorities from the fire department reported that the blaze began shortly before 6:00 a.m. on West 91st Street, between 15th and 16th Avenues. A man, aged 33, was sent to Advocate Christ Hospital in critical condition, while a woman, aged 61, was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, also in serious condition.

The cause of this fire has yet to be determined, and further details have not been provided by authorities.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

House Fires & Victim Injuries in Chicago

While home fires are relatively uncommon, they are responsible for nearly a quarter of all fire-related injuries and 12% of all fire deaths. In addition, over 29% of all fires reported in the past five years had occurred in dwellings.

An increase of 344,000 residential fires annually required the assistance of fire departments across the United States. These fires caused an estimated 2,400 deaths, 12,000 injuries, and close to $8 billion in property damage.

Individuals who have suffered a total loss due to a house fire may feel helpless in the face of mounting emotional and financial hardships. Injured people and their families face an uphill battle when trying to get compensation from insurance companies, which can cause unimaginable suffering.

Although this is a difficult moment, you may still have legal remedies available to you. Get in touch with a Chicago personal injury attorney immediately if you or a loved one were hurt in a fire resulting from someone else’s carelessness.

In Illinois, victims of negligence can file a lawsuit in court to demand financial recompense for their suffering. A claim for wrongful death may be filed in cases of either negligent or willful misbehavior leading to death. Everyone who relies on the defendant or who is related to the defendant is entitled to monetary damages if the defendant is found liable in a lawsuit.

These are just a few of the many reasons why anyone wounded or a family member who has lost a loved one in a fire that could have been avoided should consult an attorney as soon as possible after the fire has been put out.

If you or a loved one has been hurt in a fire that should have been avoided, D&W Law Group will take legal action to obtain the compensation you need and deserve.
