Chicago, IL – Victim Hospitalized After Semi-Truck & Limo Bus Crash on Tri State Toll at Lake Cook Rd

Chicago, IL - Victim Hospitalized After Semi-Truck & Limo Bus Crash on Tri State Toll at Lake Cook Rd

Chicago, IL (May 26, 2022) – The driver of a semi-truck collided with a limousine on the Tri-State Tollway, located near Lake Cook Road, leaving one person hurt and slowing down traffic for hours on Thursday, May 26.

Preliminary reports issued by troopers with the Illinois State Police indicate that a tractor-trailer hit the rear of a limo bus. The impact then resulted in a chain-reaction wreck involving another large truck, along with the driver of a Honda Odyssey.

One passenger was taken to a local area medical center by ambulance with unknown injuries. No further information has been supplied, though the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.

The wounded victims are in our thoughts. We are hoping for a full recovery for them.

Illinois Semi-Trailer Collisions

Transporting products across the nation requires the use of semi-trucks, which must navigate congested city streets, highways, expressways, and interstates. It goes without saying that semi-trailers are quite common on the roadways of our country, but they also pose a threat to public safety. In the case of a collision, a precarious situation can develop quickly due to the fact that tractor-trailers are substantially bigger and heavier than the majority of other vehicles that are driven on the road.

In point of fact, according to the officials of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), semi-trucks were involved in around 12,280 accidents in 2018, with more than 2,000 of those occurrences resulting in fatalities. And despite the fact that incidents involving semi-trucks only account for a negligible share of the overall number of collisions, they are responsible for a disproportionately high number of deaths.

Victims and their families are the ones who end up paying the price when they suffer injuries as a consequence of the irresponsible behavior of others, and this is true regardless of the circumstances surrounding a semi-truck collision. Those who have been harmed by these tragedies, which may often be avoided, may experience feelings of helplessness in the face of debilitating emotional suffering and costly medical bills.
