Chicago’s Auto Accident Rate

In just one recent year, over 1,020 people were murdered in 910 distinct incidents across the state of Illinois. High velocities, crashes with immovable objects, and driver concentration have been identified as the leading causes of deadly automobile mishaps in the state.

The vast bulk of fatalities and serious accidents in Cook County occur on four- and six-lane highways. To make matters worse, the Chicago urban region accounts for nearly 27% of all crashes in the state of Illinois.
