Chicago, IL – Boy Struck & Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident at W 16th St

Chicago, IL - Boy Struck & Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident at W 16th St

Chicago, IL (June 16, 2022) – After an 11-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run in the city’s North Lawndale neighborhood on Thursday, June 16, police are still searching for the suspect driver.

The boy was crossing the roadway in the 3300 block of West 16th Street at around 10:20 a.m. when a car struck him and fled in an unknown direction, per police. Police are still looking for the hit-and-run motorist as of late Thursday evening. The car was characterized as a silver or gray SUV with front-end damage, according to witnesses.

The Major Accident Unit of the CPD is looking into the incident. Meanwhile, Chicago Police Department officers are still looking for leads and are hoping for assistance from the public. They’re urging anybody with further knowledge of the incident to contact the authorities.

Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased child.

Deadly Pedestrian Crashes Caused By Hit-and-Run Drivers in Chicago

In recent years, the number of pedestrian fatalities and severe injuries has increased by more than 30% throughout the nation, despite a general drop in the number of deaths caused by other types of automobile accidents. This unfortunate trend can be seen across Illinois, which includes some of the country’s most populous cities, such as Chicago, Springfield, and Bloomington. Pedestrians in certain metropolitan regions are at a greater risk of severe injury or death as a result of automobile collisions.

Pedestrian fatalities in Cook County are typically among the highest in the state. According to authorities from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), pedestrian deaths reached a five-year high in 2019, with over 105 fatalities in Cook County alone.

Victims and their families, unfortunately, pay the price when they are hurt or killed in incidents caused by others’ reckless behavior.

People who have been touched by a severe accident may feel as if they have nowhere to turn in the aftermath, whether they are coping with profound emotional trauma, incapacitating physical injuries, or high medical expenses. Injured victims and bereaved families typically face an uphill struggle with at-fault drivers and insurance companies, requiring them to cope with unimaginable suffering.

However, if you or a loved one has been hurt in one of these situations, you may have a number of legal options going forward.

If you hire an experienced Illinois accident lawyer, you could find out that you have legal options if you’ve been hurt or a loved one has died as a consequence of someone else’s reckless behavior.

Victims of vehicle accidents may find it difficult to collect full and reasonable monetary compensation from drivers or their insurance companies, so those who have been injured should contact an attorney as soon as possible. The D&W Law Group will fight hard to obtain you the full and fair monetary compensation you deserve if you’ve been in an avoidable accident or lost a loved one.

Victims should never be left alone during this terrible period, in our opinion. Furthermore, if you contact our skilled and experienced legal team, we will make sure your claim is filed on time.

  • "Excellent Law Firm!"

I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
