Chicago, IL – Deadly Truck Accident on I-290 at Harlem Ave Under Investigation

Chicago, IL (June 13, 2022) – On Monday morning, June 13, a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 290 resulted in the death of one person and the closure of two lanes for an investigation, according to the Illinois State Police.

At around 8:50 a.m., ISP District Chicago troopers responded to a two-vehicle accident involving a commercial truck on westbound Interstate 290 near Harlem Avenue.

News footage from the site of the crash shows what looks to be a van carrying vegetables colliding with the rear of a tractor-trailer, with the vehicle’s boxes and other contents strewn over the field.

The Illinois State Police report that one individual was declared dead at the scene. It’s unclear if any other victims sustained injuries in the wreck.

Two westbound right lanes of Interstate 290 were stopped for investigation shortly after the collision. Additional information was not immediately available, however.
