Chicago, IL – Driver Hits & Kills Woman Waiting at Bus Stop on W Peterson Ave
Chicago, IL (May 12, 2022) – The Chicago Police Department is investigating a deadly accident that took place at a bus stop across from a Target in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon, May 11.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 32-year-old woman was struck and killed by the driver of a black BMW that crashed through a bus stop. The woman was allegedly waiting for a bus in the 2100 block of West Peterson Avenue when the incident occurred around 1:10 p.m.
Medics rushed to the crash site and attempted to render life-saving aid to the victim, but she died at the scene. Details about her identity have not yet been released and are pending next-of-kin notifications.
The driver of the BMW, identified only as a 42-year-old man, was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in good condition.
The Major Accidents division is evaluating the circumstances surrounding the incident and did not say if citations or charges were pending for the driver.
