Chicago, IL – Four Hospitalized After Chicago PD Crash on Harrison St
Chicago, IL (January 24, 2023) – Two Chicago police officers were among the four people sent to the hospital after a collision with another car in East Garfield Park on Tuesday evening.
The two police officers were in stable condition Tuesday night at Mount Sinai Hospital. There were reports of a marked Chicago Police vehicle traveling west on Harrison Street and crossing California Avenue at around 7:25 p.m.
At that time and place on Harrison Street, an eastbound box truck collided with the squad car, according to officials.
The police were on their way to another accident in the 2000 block of West Augusta Boulevard in Ukrainian Village when the one on Harrison Street occurred. Local surveillance footage purportedly shows the CPD car colliding with the box truck, then rebounding across the street and crashing into the parked automobile.
The 34-year-old driver and 48-year-old passenger of the box truck were taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in good health.
On Tuesday evening, authorities were still trying to determine what caused the crash and who was at fault.
