Chicago, IL – I-57 Site of Auto Accident, Injuries at 147th St
Chicago, IL (April 9, 2023) – On the afternoon of Sunday, April 9, two cars collided on the Inbound side of Interstate 57, resulting in victim injuries and prompting an urgent response from the Chicago Police Department.
Around 3:10 p.m., police officers arrived on the Inbound side of I-57 at the exit to 147th Street to begin their investigation. The responding authorities reported significant delays in traffic back to 159th Street, and emergency medical technicians rushed to the location to assess the situation and treat any wounded people there. Chicago Fire Rescue units also arrived to extinguish a vehicle fire caused by the initial crash.
No official count has been made of the injured, although news footage seemed to show at least two individuals being taken to a local hospital.
The police have not provided any updated information. The Chicago Police Department has asked that anybody with further details about the event get in touch as they proceed with their investigation at this time.
