Chicago, IL (January 13, 2023) – On Friday night, January 13, two to three people were injured in a car accident on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294), not far from the Bridgeview exits.
There was a complete shutdown of all lanes and traffic on southbound I-294 near 75th Street at about 7:35 p.m. One individual was taken to a hospital in Chicago; however, not much is publicly known about their condition at the moment.
The accident caused a nearly two-hour backup in traffic. During the investigation, authorities in Bridgeview and the surrounding area of Chicago were able to clear the site and remove debris, though they have not provided further details about the cause of the wreck at this time.
The victims and their families are in our thoughts, and we hope they recover fully soon.
Car Crashes in the Chicago Metro Area
More than 90,000 incidents involving motor vehicles were reported in Illinois in 2013, according to official state statistics. A total of about 980 persons lost their lives as a direct result of over 900 disasters. Head-on collisions with stationary objects, impaired driving, and reckless speeding are the major causes of car accidents involving fatalities.
Unsurprisingly, most traffic-related fatalities and injuries in Cook County occur at or near major intersections. According to recently disclosed statistics from the state of Illinois, the greater Chicago metropolitan area accounts for more than a quarter of all traffic incidents.
Victims of car accidents often take the rap for the carelessness of others. Patients with mental illness face a triple burden of rising medical costs, emotional distress, and economic hardship.
Victims of such injuries may be eligible for damages in the event that they suffer physical harm or lose their lives as a result. If you’ve been involved in an accident that wasn’t your fault, you should talk to a Chicago automobile accident lawyer.
An Illinois court would award damages and provide justice if another driver’s negligence or recklessness caused your injuries in a car crash.
