Chicago, IL - Injuries Reported in Car Wreck on I-57 at 127th St

Chicago, IL (November 24, 2022) – The Illinois State Police and the Chicago Police Department stated that an accident on I-57 on Thursday evening, November 24 caused significant delays in traffic and a small number of injuries.

Backups from the accident stretched all the way to 115th Street on I-57 Outbound from 127th Street. Further details provided by local authorities indicate that police arrived at the scene of the two-car accident at about 9:35 p.m.

An initial report indicated that one individual had serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. However, the police did not provide any other information on the collision other than the fact that many lanes of Interstate 57 were closed due to the investigation.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their loved ones.

Rate of Car Accidents in Chicago

According to official data, there were over 90,000 people injured in vehicle accidents in Illinois, with over 67,000 of those incidents involving cars. More than nine hundred deadly car accidents also contributed to the deaths of roughly 950 people. Officials report that collisions with fixed objects, drunk or drugged driving, and high speeds account for the vast majority of fatal car accidents.

The bulk of these and other kinds of traffic accidents in and around Cook County take place at busy intersections and on major highways or interstates. About a quarter of all car accidents in Illinois happen in the Chicago metropolitan region, according to the latest recent figures from the state.

As a consequence, victims of irresponsible driving who sustain injuries in automobile accidents are on the hook for their own medical bills. Those impacted must also deal with the emotional anguish that comes with mounting medical bills, terrible injuries, and a host of other forms of financial stress.

The occurrence of any of these situations may entitle you to seek legal redress. An auto accident lawyer in Chicago is someone you should talk to right away if you were hurt in a car crash that was not your fault.

If you are injured in a preventable Illinois car crash because of another driver’s carelessness or recklessness, you have the right to full and reasonable compensation for your losses. Illinois accident victims who don’t retain legal representation soon after an accident can risk not receiving the full amount of compensation to which they may be entitled.
