Chicago, IL - Injuries Reported in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-94 at Dolton Ave

Chicago, IL (May 3, 2022) – At least one person sustained injuries after a multi-car wreck that took place on Tuesday evening, May 3.

At around 7:30 p.m., Chicago Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene of the incident on the Bishop Ford Freeway, I-94, at Dolton Avenue.

Initial reports from the CPD indicated that two vehicles collided in the accident, though the total number of injured victims is unknown. EMTs also responded to evaluate at least one person for injuries.

Police did not say if citations were issued in connection with the wreck, and the events leading up to the incident remain unknown. The investigation by the CPD is active and ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Wrecks in Illinois

Officials from the National Safety Council revealed preliminary statistics on motor vehicle injuries and deaths in the United States, which indicated a 9% rise in fatalities in 2021 compared to 2020. Moreover, authorities in Illinois estimated an 18% increase in automobile accident deaths. This figure marks an almost 35% surge from 2019 alone.

Even worse, when compared to other counties in the state, Cook County has a high rate of serious motor vehicle crashes. In fact, the Chicago metro area and Cook County on the whole account for up to 25% of all Illinois traffic accidents.

Unfortunately, multi-vehicle collisions are all too prevalent in Illinois, especially in the Chicagoland region. Adding insult to injury, victims and their families pay the price when they are injured or killed in accidents caused by the irresponsible conduct of other motorists.

Those who have been affected by these major injuries may feel as if they have nowhere to turn in the aftermath of a collision, whether they’re struggling to cope with emotional distress or stay on top of expensive medical costs and bills. What’s more, victims and their families frequently face difficult negotiations with at-fault drivers and insurance companies on top of everything else.

However, if you or a loved one has been injured in one of these wrecks, you may have a number of legal alternatives available to you at this time. If you’ve been involved in an accident caused by someone else’s negligence, you should contact a Chicago car accident attorney as soon as possible.

Victims of another driver’s irresponsible or distracted driving in Illinois are entitled to seek compensation from the accountable person under state law. However, victims may face an uphill battle when it comes to securing a fair, full monetary reward from drivers or their insurance carriers. As a result, it’s essential for accident victims to retain legal advice and counsel as quickly as possible following a collision.

When you’ve been involved in a preventable accident, our attorneys at the D&W Law Group will stop at nothing to get you the compensation that you and yours deserve.

If you’ve suffered injuries in a car accident that’s occurred through no fault of your own, contact a lawyer as soon as possible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the D&W Law Group at 312-888-8888 for a no-cost personal consultation tailored to your needs. I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
