Chicago Pedestrian Accidents & Deaths

The number of pedestrian fatalities in the U.S. has climbed by more than 34% in recent years, despite an overall decline in mortality from other forms of auto accidents. Illinois, which is afflicted by this dreadful tendency, is home to some of the country’s most populated and walkable cities, including Chicago, Springfield, and others. Unfortunately, there is a greater risk of serious injury or death for pedestrians on the crowded streets of these highly populated areas.

The state’s greatest incidence of pedestrian fatalities occurs in Cook County. In fact, police reported that in Cook County alone in 2019, there were at least 120 pedestrian fatalities, which is a five-year high.

Whether they are dealing with ongoing health problems, excruciating pain, or high medical costs, victims of a major tragedy may feel powerless when faced with the devastating consequences. Occasionally, pedestrian accident victims pass away from their wounds as a consequence of their injuries, leaving mourning families to deal with mounting expenses, diminished earning potential, burial bills, and the unbearable pain of losing a loved one.

You might have various legal options if you or a loved one were hurt or killed in a pedestrian accident. You could discover that you are entitled to full and just financial compensation after dealing with a Chicago car accident lawyer.

People who have been hurt due to another driver’s negligence or inattention may seek compensation under the Illinois Wrongful Death Act. Dependents and family members get compensation if a lawsuit is successful.

Therefore, it is crucial that family members speak with a skilled Illinois accident lawyer as soon as one of these instances takes place. The D&W Law Group will take all necessary steps to ensure that you get the maximum amount of compensation to which you are entitled, whether you have been involved in a preventable accident or have lost a loved one.
