Serious Injuries in Chicago-area Pedestrian Accidents

Despite a general drop in mortality from other motor vehicle accidents, the number of pedestrian deaths in the US has recently climbed by around 36%. Chicago, Springfield, and other cities are among the most populous and walkable in the United States and are located in Illinois. Unfortunately, in these densely populated locations, there is a higher chance that a pedestrian may be killed or seriously injured while navigating such bustling high-traffic streets.

Cook County in Illinois has the state’s highest rate of pedestrian deaths. A five-year high of at least 120 pedestrian deaths was recorded in Cook County in 2019.

Whether they are struggling with persistent medical issues, excruciating agony, or astronomical medical costs, victims of a catastrophic calamity may feel helpless in the face of the tragic outcomes. All too often, pedestrian accident victims die from their injuries, leaving their families to cope with growing costs, including funerary expenses, not to mention the tragic loss of a loved one.

If you or a loved one was harmed or killed in a pedestrian accident, you could have a lot of legal alternatives. After consulting with a Chicago automobile accident attorney, you could learn that you are entitled to full and reasonable financial recompense.

The Illinois Wrongful Death Act allows anyone who has been injured because another driver was careless or distracted to file a claim for compensation. In the event that a case is successful, dependents and family members are compensated.

Therefore, family members must consult an Illinois accident lawyer as soon as one of these events occurs. Whether you were harmed in an accident that might have been avoided or you lost a loved one, The D&W Law Group will make every attempt to assist you in receiving the maximum compensation to which you are entitled.
