Chicago, IL - One Seriously Hurt in Two-Vehicle Wreck on I-57 at I-80 Near Oak Forest

Chicago, IL (July 21, 2022) – On the afternoon of Thursday, July 21, an accident on I-57 near I-80 in the Oak Forest area resulted in at least one major injury.

The area of northbound I-57 where the accident happened, between Sauk Trail and Route 30, is already often backed up due to road construction, according to Oak Forest officials and Chicago Police Department officers.

The roadwork was slowed down by a two-vehicle accident. One of the vehicles, a van, swerved and ended up in the center median, and medics took one person to the hospital with serious injuries.

Following the accident, traffic was backed up on I-57 northbound from Vollmer Road and southbound from Route 480. While the inquiry is still underway, the area was cleared by the early evening hours.

We’re thinking about the injured accident victims and wishing them a swift recovery.

Accidents Causing Fatalities & Serious Injuries in Chicagoland

According to the state’s statistical data, more than 96,000 people were injured or killed in Illinois vehicle accidents last year. As a consequence of more than 900 terrible events, around 970 individuals perished. Automobiles colliding with immovable objects, intoxicated or drugged drivers, and excessive speed are all blamed for the bulk of deadly accidents, according to authorities.

Many traffic accidents occur in and around Cook County, with the majority happening at junctions where traffic is heavy. According to the most recent state data, more than a quarter of all Illinois vehicle accidents occur in the greater Chicago region.

As a result of others’ recklessness, those who are injured in avoidable road accidents must bear the consequences. Regardless of the outcome of the contact, this is true. Patients must deal with the stress and pain of mental anguish in addition to mounting medical expenditures, horrific physical injuries, and other financial difficulties.

  • "Excellent Law Firm!"

I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
