Chicago, IL - Rear-End Wreck on Rte 394 at US 30 & Sauk Trl Injures Victims

Chicago, IL (May 4, 2022) – Officers with the Chicago Police Department were dispatched to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident on a busy local highway Wednesday evening, May 4.

Just after 8:30 p.m., CPD officers and other first responders were called to the crash site, located on southbound Route 394 approaching U.S. Highway 30 and Sauk Trail. The circumstances surrounding the alleged rear-end collision are still unknown, though police say that two drivers collided in the center lanes, leaving at least one person hurt and closing the highway down completely.

The known injured victim was apparently taken to a local medical center with minor to moderate injuries but their current condition remains unknown. The identifying information of the injured victim has also not been released.

No citations or charges have been issued, but the CPD has marked their investigation as ongoing. Witnesses of the crash and anyone else with additional information are asked to contact the CPD.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.

Highway Auto Accidents in Illinois

In 2019 alone, a total of almost 313,000 motor vehicle accidents occurred across the state of Illinois, from rural roadways to busy interstates, intersections, and beyond. On the whole, this adds up to approximately 860 traffic crashes taking place per day in 2019, and more than 10 victims sustaining injuries hourly.

Even worse, Illinois traffic deaths surged to a five-year high in 2020 at close to 1,200 deaths, despite fewer drivers traveling on state roads due to the widespread COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials say that, in 2021, the numbers are trending even higher, particularly when it comes to accidents on major thoroughfares and arteries in the Chicago metro area. Unfortunately, these car crashes, typically occurring at high speeds, tend to involve a greater risk of critical injury or death.

In the event that victims suffer injuries caused by the reckless actions of other motorists, they and their family members must cope with the devastating consequences.

However, if you’ve sustained injuries in an accident that’s happened through no fault of your own, you may have a number of legal options in the aftermath. For these reasons and more, you should reach out to a car accident attorney in Chicago as soon as possible.
