Chicago, IL – Semi-Truck Rollover Wreck on Edens Expy at Foster Ave Injures Victims
Chicago, IL (May 5, 2023) – Foster Avenue’s northbound off-ramp from the Edens Expressway was closed on Friday afternoon, May 5, due to a serious crash, according to the Illinois State Police.
Troopers with the ISP reported a collision involving a rolled semi-truck around 4:30 p.m. According to state police, the semi flipped after losing control, hitting a light pole, and then rolling over onto its side. Another passenger vehicle may have been involved, per news footage from the site, but police have not confirmed specific details.
EMTs responded and assessed a handful of victims for injuries at the scene, though it’s also unclear if any of those individuals were taken to a hospital.
While ISP stated that the ramp would be blocked momentarily while debris is cleared from the roadway, they did not provide an estimate for how long the closure will remain in place over rush hour. Motorists are urged to use other routes in the meantime.
An investigation remains ongoing, and the ISP provided no additional details during the interim.
Our thoughts are with any injured victims and their families in hopes of their full recovery.
Serious Auto Accidents in Chicagoland
The Federal Highway Administration (FHA) receives thousands of reports of accidents at intersections every year, with left-turning and distracted driving being the leading causes of these incidents. According to statistics, about half of all car accidents occur at intersections, with the lion’s share of other crashes reported on major, multi-lane highways.
The majority of traffic collisions in Cook County occur at these intersections and major thoroughfares with heavy traffic. Moreover, per state statistics, more than a quarter of all Illinois traffic incidents occur in and around Chicago.
Sadly, the victims and their families must often pay for the damages caused by the accident, regardless of who or what was at fault. Needless to say, the emotional toll and financial burden placed on those in the immediate line of these tragedies’ effects might leave them feeling powerless.
Thankfully, you may be able to pursue legal action if you or a loved one were injured or died as a consequence of these accidents. It’s essential to talk to a lawyer right away if you were in an automobile accident in Chicago that wasn’t your fault.
