Chicago, IL – Semi-Truck Wreck, Injuries on Rte 47 at Allendale & Thayer Rds

Chicago, IL - Semi-Truck Wreck, Injuries on Rte 47 at Allendale & Thayer Rds

Chicago, IL (June 30, 2022) – The driver of a semi-truck was involved in a car crash on Thursday evening, June 30, leaving at least one person hurt and causing the tractor-trailer to overturn at the site of the incident.

Preliminary reports from the Illinois State Police suggest that a tractor-trailer and a passenger car crashed at approximately 6:30 p.m. on northbound/southbound Route 47 near Woodstock, between Allendale Road and Thayer Road.

Unknown injuries were reported by EMTs, and at least one person was transported by ambulance to a nearby medical facility. The investigation into the circumstances behind the accident is continuing, but no new information has been released.

The injured victims are in our thoughts. We are hopeful for their complete recovery.

Chicago-Area Semi-Trailer Crashes

When transporting goods across the country, semi-truck drivers must be familiar with the ins and outs of congested city streets, interstates, expressways, and highways. While semi-trailer trucks are a ubiquitous sight on American roads, they may also be dangerous. Tractor-trailers are so much bigger and heavier than the typical car on the road that an accident between the two might swiftly become lethal.

Over 2,000 people were killed in accidents involving semi-trucks in 2018, according to the police. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) reports that semi-truck accidents account for a disproportionately high number of fatalities while accounting for just a tiny fraction of total crashes.

When someone else’s carelessness causes an accident involving a semi-truck, the expenses to treat the victims and their families are disproportionately high. Victims of these frequently avoidable tragedies may feel powerless in the face of crippling mental pain and exorbitant medical bills.
