Chicago, IL - Seven Hospitalized After Car Accident at 47th & Ashland Aves

Chicago, IL (October 8, 2022) – On Friday morning, an accident in the Back of the Yards area left one person gravely wounded and six others with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police.

The incident occurred at 47th Avenue and Ashland Avenue intersection at around 6:00 a.m.

A passenger van driven by a 56-year-old man was reportedly southbound when it collided with a Toyota Camry driven by a 71-year-old man who was headed north.

A 58-year-old woman who was riding in the van was rushed in severe condition to Stroger Hospital. Minor injuries were sustained by five more van occupants, who were also sent to local hospitals for treatment. According to the fire department, 8 to 10 passengers were in the vehicle.

The Camry’s driver was transferred to Mt. Sinai in good condition, though there were no other passengers in that vehicle. In addition, there have been no citations issued at this time since the inquiry is still underway.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of their full recovery.

Chicago-area Injury Car Accidents

Every year, automobile accidents in Illinois cause the deaths of more than 90,000. Roughly 950 people perished as a result of a wide range of terrible events. According to official data, speeding, drunk driving, and collisions with immovable objects are the three major causes of fatal car accidents.

It’s no surprise that most car accidents in and around Cook County take place on or near major thoroughfares. Statistics from the most recent year show that the Chicago region accounts for more than a quarter of all auto accidents in Illinois.

The recklessness of others must be paid for, and the victims of road accidents who suffer as a result must do so in silence. After the dust settles, it still holds true. Patients have to deal with the stress and pain of mental suffering on top of the stress and agony of increasing medical expenses, severe injuries, and other financial difficulties.

There may be legal recourse for you or your loved one if you’ve been harmed by one of these conditions. You should talk to a lawyer right away if you were involved in a car accident in Chicago that you did not cause.

In Illinois, if you are wounded in an automobile accident that was someone else’s responsibility, you have the right to seek justice and full and fair compensation. I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
