Chicago, IL – Three Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident at 75th & State Sts
Chicago, IL (January 30, 2023) – On Monday night, three victims were hurt in a hit-and-run accident on Chicago’s South Side, according to officers with the Chicago Police Department.
Around 7:00 p.m. in the evening, the collision was reported between East 75th Street and South State Street in the Park Manor area.
According to authorities, a 2014 Toyota Camry was heading eastbound on 75th Street when a black Mercedes on northbound State Street ran a red light and struck it. As a result, the Mercedes lost control and hit a tree and two people walking down the sidewalk.
After getting out of the Mercedes, the occupants left the area on foot, per officers.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota was taken in severe condition to a nearby hospital. The University of Chicago Medical Center and Stroger Hospital also received the two pedestrians, who were said to be in fair condition.
No one has been detained at this time, and the police did not immediately release additional details concerning the collision. An investigation is ongoing.
