Chicago, IL - Toddler, Four Others Hurt in Rollover Crash on Eisenhower Expy at Kedzie Ave

Chicago, IL (July 17, 2022) — Chicago fire authorities said a toddler was among the five persons hospitalized following an early Sunday morning accident on the Eisenhower Expressway near Kedzie Avenue.

At around 2:40 a.m. on July 17th, paramedics responded to the collision in the outward lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway, according to authorities. At least one individual looked to have been thrown from a vehicle.

After being blocked for many hours, the outbound lanes have reopened, according to the Illinois State Police. A toddler and an adult were reportedly sent to Stroger Hospital in severe to critical condition. The patients’ conditions have been stabilized.

Three other people were also reportedly sent to Mount Sinai Hospital in severe to critical condition. Two of the three were rendered stable, but one victim was still in critical condition as of this posting.

An investigation remains ongoing, with no further details provided at this time.

Our sympathies are now with the wounded victims and their families. We wish for their complete recovery.

Vehicle Rollover Accidents in Illinois

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that vehicle rollovers account for more than 31% of all fatal traffic collisions, although they’re involved in just 4% of all automobile accidents on the whole. In fact, in 2018, about 11,000 car passengers were killed in rollover accidents, accounting for nearly a third of all collision deaths that year. On roads with a speed limit of 55 miles per hour or above, about 91% of all these incidents involving rolling vehicles occur.

While any kind of accident may represent a threat to the safety of individuals involved, rollover accidents provide the greatest hazard. One explanation for this is because when a car rolls over, the likelihood of victims receiving severe neck and head injuries rises considerably.

Our Chicago law firm’s personal injury lawyers realize how traumatic these incidents can be for anyone inside a moving vehicle. This is why we strive diligently to aid in the recovery of our customers.

Rollover crashes may be caused by a variety of circumstances, including driver mistakes and faulty vehicle components. Regardless of the origin, the repercussions of these accidents may be disastrous for the victims. In addition to excessive medical expenses and extensive property damage, wounded people must also struggle with lost wages. Protect your legal rights by contacting an Illinois automobile accident attorney if you were hurt in a car rollover caused by someone else’s negligence.

In most instances, a vehicle rolls over owing to the enormous force produced after the collision. This exposes both drivers and passengers to a disproportionately elevated risk of suffering severe or fatal injuries.

Roof caving, cracked windshields, and car fires are among the most hazardous characteristics of a vehicle rolling. Regrettably, this means victims may sustain serious injuries, such as full body trauma and shattered bones, internal bleeding, organ damage, or even death.

If you were engaged in a rollover collision, you may suffer debilitating injuries and face a long, difficult road to recovery. If you did not cause the occurrence, you should not be responsible for any related expenses.
