Chicago, IL - Toddler, Two Adults Hospitalized After SUV Crashes into Daycare Center on 79th St

Chicago, IL (April 28, 2023) – On Friday morning in the Chatham area, an SUV drove into a daycare center, injuring three people, one of which was a child.

The incident occurred in the 200 block of West 79th Street at Raekwon’s Scholastic Academy Daycare.

According to authorities, a parent dropped their child off at the facility around 8:15 a.m. when they hit the accelerator and drove into the building.

Chicago Fire Department officials said that a toddler was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital but is in good condition. The child’s father, who was behind the wheel, was brought to the hospital, as was one of the daycare’s teachers. Both are also said to be in good condition.

Nobody inside the childcare center was hurt, though the facade of the building was damaged.

Chicago officers are still conducting an investigation and have not reported any other details at this time.

Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families.

Car Accident Injuries in Chicagoland

There were over 97,000 collisions in the state of Illinois in 2013; sadly, 910 of these events have resulted in the deaths of over 1,025 individuals. Traffic researchers say that distracted and reckless driving, hitting a stationary object, and going too fast are the three most common causes of deadly automobile accidents throughout the state.

While accidents sometimes happen on two-lane roads, four- and six-lane highways account for the vast majority of deaths and severe injuries in Cook County. What’s more, the statistics show that the Chicago area accounts for 25% of all accidents in Illinois.

Victims of car accidents often find themselves paying for another person’s carelessness. Moreover, damage to one’s mind and wallet may be just as damaging as broken bones in the aftermath of these unfortunate incidents. Needless to say, any Chicago resident who suffers injuries in a vehicle crash caused by another driver’s negligence should get in touch with a lawyer without delay.

You have the right to sue for damages in Illinois if you were hurt in an automobile accident that was someone else’s fault. A vehicle accident attorney in Illinois can help you understand your legal rights and alternatives after an accident. For instance, if you try to negotiate with the irresponsible driver’s insurance company on your own, you may find it difficult to settle for a fair amount.

  • "Excellent Law Firm!"

I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
