Chicago, IL – Toddler, Two Adults Hospitalized After SUV Crashes into Daycare Center on 79th St
Chicago, IL (April 28, 2023) – On Friday morning in the Chatham area, an SUV drove into a daycare center, injuring three people, one of which was a child.
The incident occurred in the 200 block of West 79th Street at Raekwon’s Scholastic Academy Daycare.
According to authorities, a parent dropped their child off at the facility around 8:15 a.m. when they hit the accelerator and drove into the building.
Chicago Fire Department officials said that a toddler was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital but is in good condition. The child’s father, who was behind the wheel, was brought to the hospital, as was one of the daycare’s teachers. Both are also said to be in good condition.
Nobody inside the childcare center was hurt, though the facade of the building was damaged.
Chicago officers are still conducting an investigation and have not reported any other details at this time.
