Chicago, IL – Truck Driver Hospitalized After Tire Smashes Windshield on I-55 at 1st Ave

Chicago, IL - Truck Driver Hospitalized After Tire Smashes Windshield on I-55 at 1st Ave

Chicago, IL (November 4, 2022) – A tire smashed through the windshield of a semi-truck in the outbound lanes of the Stevenson Expressway on Friday afternoon, November 4, causing a crash on the highway and the subsequent hospitalization of the truck’s driver.

The incident happened near the 1st Avenue exit from outbound I-55 between Summit and McCook.

Illinois State Police said that, around 3:30 p.m., a Chevrolet Tahoe was reportedly driving in the northbound lanes when it lost its rear tire on the driver’s side. The tire traveled across all lanes and struck the semi-truck before causing a crash. The semi-truck was on the southbound side of I-55.

The semi-driver was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. ISP did not say whether the driver of the Tahoe sustained any injuries, however. Their investigation is still ongoing at this time.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we hope for their full recovery at this time.

Vehicle Wrecks & Injuries in Chicago

With a population of three million, Chicago ranks as the third largest city in the United States. Chicago’s population is growing rapidly; consequently, the city’s traffic is always at capacity.

Deaths from car accidents rose during the coronavirus outbreak, despite instructions to remain home and greater isolation. The Illinois Department of Transportation projects that by 2020, speeding will have dramatically risen, putting more motorists at risk.

Intoxicated drivers, speeding, and other types of reckless driving contributed to the deaths of many persons on the city’s roads. When driving in Chicago, Cook County is the most dangerous place.

That makes those already susceptible to injury in automobile accidents much more so when another driver is at fault. They often must also shoulder the financial burden of covering their own medical expenses. Negative effects on mental health might result from not just the physical and financial costs associated with a tragic accident but also the possibility of a long road to recovery from severe agony.

One of the following conditions must exist before a lawsuit may be filed: Talk to a car crash lawyer in Chicago immediately away if you were harmed in an accident that wasn’t your fault.

A person injured in an automobile accident in Illinois has the right to seek financial compensation if they can show that the other driver’s carelessness or negligence was a proximate cause of their injury. If you’ve been hurt in an accident in Illinois and are hoping to collect fair compensation from the insurance company or driver who caused the accident, you should hire an attorney as quickly as possible.
