Chicago, IL - Two Drivers Crash on I-290 at Mannheim Rd, Causing Injuries

Chicago, IL (December 19, 2022) – On Monday, December 19, two vehicles crashed on the left shoulder of I-290/Eisenhower in Chicago, causing police to rush to the scene.

At approximately 6:10 p.m., police detectives started their inquiry on the Inbound side of the highway in the vicinity of Mannheim Road. Authorities reported major traffic backups all the way back to Bessie Coleman Drive as emergency medical services personnel came to assess the incident and treat any victims.

As a consequence of the incident, a car fire allegedly broke out, and Chicago Fire Rescue workers doused the flames.

Meanwhile, news footage and surveillance video from a nearby business showed at least two persons being rushed to a local hospital. However, no official number of wounded victims has been provided.

Those with more information about the incident are invited to contact the Chicago Police Department. Currently, an investigation is still continuing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their loved ones, and we hope for their complete recovery.

Motor Vehicle Crashes in Chicagoland

In 2013, Illinois recorded over 1,025 deaths due to over 97,000 accidents. According to traffic expert surveys, the major causes of fatal automotive accidents in the state include high rates of speeding, collisions with immovable objects, and driver distraction.

Although they may sometimes occur on two-lane roads, the majority of deaths and severe injuries in Cook County occur on four- and six-lane roads. In addition, a quarter of all accidents in the state of Illinois occur in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Typically, when someone else causes an accident, the victims must bear the costs. Furthermore, emotional and financial trauma may be just as severe as bodily injury after such tragic incidents. Anyone in Chicago who is injured in an automobile accident caused by another driver’s negligence should contact an attorney immediately.
