Chicago, IL – Two Injured in Rollover Collision on W. Huron St

Chicago, IL - Two Injured in Rollover Collision on W. Huron St

Chicago, IL (May 22, 2022) – Two people were injured during a collision that caused their vehicle to overturn in the River North suburb on Sunday, May 22nd.

The incident took place at about 12:35 a.m. in the 100th block of West Huron Street when a 32-year-old male driver of a Jeep along with his 27-year-old passenger were heading westbound, on West Huron Street collided with an Acura SUV that was stopped at a red light.

According to police, the impact caused the Jeep to strike a parked car which then caused it to roll onto its side.

Both occupants of the Jeep sustained non-critical injuries and were taken by ambulance to Northwestern Hospital in fair condition.

The driver of the SUV, a 36-year-old woman, had injuries to her back and neck.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Vehicle Rollovers in Illinois

Chicago, IL - Two Injured in Rollover Collision on W. Huron St

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that, even though only 3% of all car crashes involve an overturned vehicle, vehicle rollovers make up more than 30% of all fatal traffic collisions.

In 2018, almost 11,000 vehicle occupants were killed during rollover accidents, representing almost one-third of all crash fatalities that year. Close to 90% of all accidents that involve rolling automobiles take place on roadways with a speed limit of 55 miles per hour or more.

While certainly, any style of accident can pose a risk to the safety of those involved, a rollover accident is especially dangerous. One of the reasons for this is that the possibility of victims sustaining serious neck and head injuries dramatically increases when a vehicle flips over.

The personal injury attorneys at our Chicago law firm understand just how terrifying these accidents can be for those inside the rolling vehicle. This is why we work tirelessly to support our clients as they recover.

Rollover collisions can be caused by multiple factors, such as driver error and defective car parts. Irrespective of the actual cause, the effects of these crashes can be catastrophic to victims. Along with exorbitant medical bills and heavy property damage, injured victims will also have to contend with lost earnings. If you were injured in a vehicle rollover that was caused by someone else’s negligence, make sure your rights are defended by reaching out to a vehicle accident lawyer in Illinois.

In most cases, a vehicle overturns due to the extreme amount of force exerted during the impact. This places both drivers and passengers at disproportionately heightened odds of being seriously, or possibly even fatally, injured.

Some of the more dangerous aspects of a vehicle rollover include:

  • Roof collapse/Roof crush
  • Full body impact
  • Shattered windscreen
  • Broken and fractured bones
  • Vehicle fires and explosions

If you were involved in a rollover crash, you could be facing crippling injuries and a long, hard road to recovery. If you were not the cause of the incident, you should not be on the hook for any associated costs.

If you have sustained injuries in a vehicle collision through no fault of your own, reach out to an attorney as soon as you can. • "Excellent Law Firm!"

I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
