Chicago, IL – Two Killed in Vehicle Accident on I-94 at 71st St

Chicago, IL - Two Killed in Vehicle Accident on I-94 at 71st St

Chicago, IL (December 25, 2022) – Early on Christmas morning, two people, including a child, were killed in an accident on the city’s South Side, according to the Illinois State Police.

On Sunday at around 1:15 a.m., an accident happened on the on-ramp from 71st Street to northbound Interstate 94, according to the police.

When troopers arrived at the scene at Greater Grand Crossing, they found an adult driver and two juveniles inside a damaged vehicle, according to officials. The driver and one passenger were taken to a neighboring hospital, where their deaths were later confirmed.

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the victims as a 2-year-old child and a 25-year-old woman. The authorities did not immediately reveal the condition of the second child or any other casualties.

Nonetheless, an inquiry is continuing at this moment.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased victims. In the hopes of a full recovery, all injured victims are in our thoughts.

Traffic Accident Fatalities in Chicago

The majority of junction incidents annually reported to the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) involve left turns and distracted driving. According to national data, around 44% of all car accidents occur at crossroads. This is the second most common kind of car accident, behind rear-end crashes.

Unfortunately, Cook County has many traffic accidents, especially at major junctions. According to state statistics, more than a quarter of all traffic accidents in Illinois occur in and around the Chicago metropolitan area.

Victims and their families pay for the damage inflicted by the negligence of others, regardless of the cause of an accident. When confronted with extreme psychological stress and costly medical bills, those touched by these sad events may feel powerless.

If you were injured or lost a loved one due to one of these circumstances, you might have recourse to a variety of legal remedies. When you have been engaged in a collision that was not your fault, you should immediately contact a Chicago automobile accident attorney.

Under Illinois law, auto accident victims who experience injuries due to the carelessness or inattention of another motorist are entitled to compensation. However, because securing a thorough and suitable monetary settlement from drivers or their insurance companies may be challenging, it is crucial for accident victims to have skilled legal representation.

Due to their familiarity with Illinois’s complicated legal system, our lawyers at D&W Law Group know what it takes to submit a successful accident claim. In addition, our competent and sympathetic legal team will spare no effort in getting the full and fair compensation to which you are entitled after an avoidable accident.
