Chicago, IL - Two Men Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on DuSable Lake Shore Dr

Chicago, IL (September 11, 2022) – On September 11th, two men were killed in a wrong-way accident on DuSable Lake Shore Drive.

Around 2:20 a.m., the incident occurred in the 2000 block of North DuSable, near the museum grounds. According to police, a motorist in a white car was driving south in the northbound lanes when he collided with a silver vehicle, causing it to catch fire.

The driver of the silver car died at the scene as a result of blunt force injuries. The driver of the white automobile also sustained blunt force injuries and was declared deceased at Illinois Masonic Hospital. It’s unknown if any passengers were hurt in the crash.

However, the accident is still being investigated. Officers with the Chicago Police Department hope to provide more information in the coming week.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the deceased victims. Any wounded victims are in our thoughts, with hopes of a full recovery.

Fatal Wrong-Way Accidents in Chicagoland

According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, in excess of 2,900 fatal wrong-way collisions killed approximately 3,900 people between 2010 and 2018. This corresponds to 420 or more deaths every year on average. Furthermore, more than half of these fatalities were caused by wrong-way drivers (52%), and though a minor number of the total fatalities were passengers of these drivers (5%), roughly four in ten (40%) were occupants of other automobiles.

When people are injured as a result of the irresponsible activities of others, they and their family members are ultimately responsible for the tragedy, regardless of what caused it. Those affected by these significant occurrences may feel as if they have nowhere else to turn when confronted with awful psychological stress and exorbitant medical bills.

If you have been wounded in one of these incidents, or if you have lost a loved one due to one of these events, you may be entitled to various legal remedies. As a result, you should contact a Chicago car accident lawyer as soon as possible (after receiving proper medical care).

Under Illinois law, a person who was hurt in an automobile accident in Illinois and believes that their injuries were caused by another driver’s careless or inattentive driving has the legal right to file a claim for financial compensation. However, since obtaining a detailed and equitable monetary judgment from drivers or their insurance companies may be challenging, it is essential that accident victims seek the assistance of skilled legal counsel.
