Chicago, IL - Two Officers Hurt in Vehicle Crash at Michigan Ave & 18th St

Chicago, IL (March 7, 2023) – Two Chicago police officers were injured early Tuesday morning, March 7, on the city’s South Side, according to early reports released by the Chicago Police Department.

The cops were in a marked cruiser with their lights and sirens on, per the investigators who responded to the scene of the incident. Right after midnight, officers reportedly collided with a black Jeep while attempting to turn onto Michigan Avenue from 18th Street.

Officials added that the officers are anticipated to recover. The other motorist was not seriously hurt but was also evaluated by medics at the site of the accident.

The incident is still under investigation, and officers did not immediately provide additional details regarding the collision.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time.

Rate of Vehicle Accidents in Chicagoland

Official figures provided by authorities in Illinois and the Chicago area state that close to 100,000 people are wounded or killed annually in automotive accidents in Illinois. What’s more, authorities cite speeding, drunk driving, and other types of driver error as the top three causes of fatal automobile accidents.

It should not come as a surprise that the bulk of traffic accidents in and around Cook County occur on heavily used roads. Tragically, per the most recent statewide statistics released by traffic analysts and researchers, more than a quarter of all Illinois auto accidents occurred in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Anyone injured in preventable motor vehicle collisions must pay for the recklessness of others. Regardless of the discussion’s conclusion, the situation remains unchanged. In addition to mounting medical expenses, incapacitating physical ailments, and other financial worries, patients must also contend with the stress and agony of mental misery.

If you or a loved one have been wounded by one of these conditions, you may be able to file a lawsuit. If you were not at fault in an accident, you should consult with a Chicago car accident attorney immediately.

If another driver’s carelessness or inattention caused your injuries in a vehicle collision in Illinois, you have the right to seek justice and get full and fair compensation. If they attempt to do it on their own, it may be incredibly difficult for car accident victims in Illinois to get enough compensation from negligent drivers or their insurance companies. After an occurrence, victims should contact an attorney as soon as feasible.

  • "Excellent Law Firm!"

I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
