Chicago, IL - UPDATE: Lataya Lyons Identified in Fatal Crash on Dan Ryan Expy at 95th St

Chicago, IL (May 12, 2023) – A deadly accident on the Dan Ryan Expressway resulted in the fatality of one woman who has now been identified as of Friday morning.

At around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, May 10th, two cars collided on the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway, just south of 95th Street.

The other car allegedly rear-ended the victim’s vehicle, as reported by the Illinois State Police. The driver of the rear-ended vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died of her injuries shortly thereafter. According to the medical examiner, the victim has now been identified as a 20-year-old woman named Lataya Lyons.

The second motorist was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his or her injuries.

Authorities spent several hours investigating the site, during which time all southbound lanes were blocked. At around 5:30 a.m., the on-scene portion of the ISP’s investigation was completed, though it’s unclear if any citations or charges are pending.

We want to extend our deepest condolences to Lataya Lyons’ family. Our thoughts are with the injured victim in hopes of their full recovery.

I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
