Chicago, IL - Woman Dies in Three-Car Accident at 17th Ave & Roosevelt Rd

Chicago, IL (April 26, 2022) – One person died after a crash involving three vehicles that took place in the Broadview area on Monday, April 24.

According to officers with the Broadview Police Department, the incident happened at the intersection of 17th Avenue and Roosevelt Road. Initial reports indicate that the driver of a black Kia was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed on Roosevelt Road when they struck a green minivan that was southbound on 17th Avenue.

Village of Broadview Police Chief Thomas Mills said that one of the vehicles then hit a Pace bus stopped at the intersection. The bus sustained minor damage, but the three passengers on board did not suffer injuries.

The minivan driver, an adult woman who suffered major injuries, was rushed to Loyola Hospital, though she was pronounced dead on arrival, Mills said.

The Kia’s driver was also seriously injured and taken to Loyola Hospital, where she remains in stable condition. Police added that she had a warrant for aggravated driving, and her license is revoked stemming from a DUI.

The investigation into the accident continues, and police expect to file charges.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim.

Auto Accident Deaths in Illinois

Authorities with the National Safety Council have released this year’s data for motor vehicle injuries and deaths nationwide, which showed an almost 10% increase in fatalities compared to last year. Unfortunately, in Illinois alone, officials observed an 18% rise in accident deaths, amounting to an approximate 35% increase since 2019.

Sadly, multi-vehicle accidents are all too common throughout Illinois, particularly in the Chicagoland area. When victims suffer injuries or are killed in wrecks caused by the reckless actions of others, they and their family members pay the price.

Whether they’re forced to cope with emotional trauma or exorbitant financial expenses, those affected by these serious incidents may feel like they have nowhere to turn in the aftermath of a serious accident. Oftentimes, injured victims or grieving families face an uphill battle with at-fault drivers and insurance negotiations, leaving them to deal with unimaginable stress.

But if you’ve sustained injuries in one of these accidents or even lost a loved one, you may have a number of legal options available to you as you move forward. When you’ve been involved in a car crash caused by the negligent actions of another party, contact a car accident attorney in Chicago as soon as possible.

Wrongful Death Attorney in Chicago

Illinois law allows victims who are hurt by another driver’s negligent or distracted driving to seek compensation from the responsible party. And under the Illinois Wrongful Death Act, a lawsuit for wrongful death can be based on any neglectful or wrongful act resulting in a fatality. Provided that a suit is successful, compensation is then awarded to family members and any dependents.

However, obtaining a full, fair monetary award from drivers or their insurance companies can be difficult for victims. That’s why it’s essential for accident victims to retain legal counsel as soon as they can in the aftermath of a wreck.

Here at the D&W Law Group, we stop at nothing to fight for the fair, full monetary award you deserve when you’ve been involved in a preventable accident or lost a loved one.

We believe grieving families should never have to cope with this process alone. When you get in touch with our skilled, experienced legal team, we will ensure your claim is filed in a timely manner.

Please reach out to the D&W Law Group at 312-888-8888 for a no-cost personal consultation tailored to your needs. Our dedicated and compassionate Chicago wrongful death attorneys are ready to review your legal options and help you seek justice today.

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
