Chicagoland’s Serious Car Accidents and Injuries
Over 97,000 accidents in 2013 involved drivers from Illinois, according to statistics collected by local police. More than 1,025 persons have perished as a result of these 910 incidents. The three leading causes of fatal car accidents are intoxicated driving, colliding with a stationary object, and excessive speed.
The majority of fatalities and serious injuries in Cook County occur at high-volume crossings and on four- and six-lane freeways. More than a quarter of all traffic incidents in Illinois take place in the Chicago metropolitan region, according to data that has already been made public by traffic researchers.
Victims of car crashes often end up paying the price for the negligence of others. The mental and financial costs of accidents are often overlooked in favor of the immediate physical ones. People who have suffered emotional distress as a direct result of the disaster are also eligible to file a claim for damages.
