Deaths Reported in Chicago Apartment Fires
Although house fires don’t happen often, they account for about a quarter of all fire-related injuries and 12% of all fire fatalities. Moreover, nearly 29% of all fires documented in the prior five years had happened in residences.
Every year, fire departments in the United States respond to an average of 344,000 house fires that need help. It is believed that 2,400 people perished, 12,000 were injured, and $8 billion in property was lost due to these flames.
Those who have lost everything in a home fire may be at a loss to know how to cope with the emotional and financial stresses that are piling up. People who have been injured sometimes have a difficult time getting reimbursement from insurance companies, which may lead to unthinkable hardships for them and their loved ones.
A legal remedy may be accessible to you even if this is challenging. If you or a loved one were injured in a fire that was the product of someone else’s negligence, you should contact a personal injury attorney in Chicago right once.
People who have suffered because of someone else’s carelessness might seek monetary damages in an Illinois court. Launching a wrongful death lawsuit is possible when someone’s carelessness or intentional wrongdoing directly results in the victim’s death. If the defendant is held guilty in a case, all those who depend on the defendant or are in some way connected to the defendant are entitled to monetary damages.
For these and many other reasons, anybody injured or any person whose loved one was killed in an avoidable fire should speak with an attorney as soon as possible after the blaze has been extinguished.
