Minooka, IL – Maurice Burkley Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on I-55 SB

Minooka, IL - Maurice Burkley Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on I-55 SB

Minooka, IL (September 15, 2022) – A two-vehicle collision on Interstate 55 southbound lanes just east of Minooka at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14th, killed one person and injured another.

Per initial reports provided by troopers with the Illinois State Police, Maurice Burkley, 52, of Maywood, was driving on I-55 when he was involved in a collision with Yu Fan, 36, of Chino Hills, California.

According to early accounts, Fan’s semi-truck was stopped, owing to periodic lane closures. The Will County Coroner’s Office declared Burkley deceased at the site of the incident. Fan reported minor injuries, but it’s unclear whether he was taken to the hospital.

For almost five hours, the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 were shut down completely for the investigation. Police have not released any further information, but their investigation is still ongoing.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Maurice Burkley’s family and loved ones. We send Yu Fan our best wishes for his complete, fast recovery.

  • "Excellent Law Firm!"

I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
