Naperville, IL – Man Seriously Hurt in Motorcycle Crash on IL Rte 59 at 95th St

Naperville, IL - Man Seriously Hurt in Motorcycle Crash on IL Rte 59 at 95th St

Naperville, IL (April 27, 2022) – A Naperville man sustained serious injuries in a traffic crash that took place on Wednesday morning, April 27.

At about 10:30 a.m., officers with the Naperville Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Illinois Route 59 and 95th Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered that the driver of a motorcycle, a 37-year-old man, was traveling southbound on Route 59 and approaching 95th Street when he turned right.

At the same time, a semi-truck driver was turning westbound onto 95th Street and struck the motorcyclist. A vehicle fire broke out as a result of the collision, and the motorcycle was extensively damaged.

The man on the motorcycle was rushed to an area hospital in serious condition, where he remains.

The investigation is ongoing, but police asked that anyone with information contact the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family. We hope for his full recovery.

Motorcycle Accident Deaths in Illinois

Throughout the state of Illinois, especially in busy metro regions like Chicago, serious injuries or fatalities from motorcycle accidents are all too common. In fact, according to recent data released by officials from the Illinois Department of Transportation, nearly 80% of motorcycle crashes result in serious injury.

Of the motorcycle riders who suffer injuries, more than 30% suffer critical, incapacitating injuries that take months or even years to resolve. Unfortunately, motorcyclists often die from the injuries they sustain in these crashes. Because motorcycles offer much less protection than passenger vehicles, riders are particularly vulnerable on the road.

When these victims are killed in an accident that’s occurred through no fault of their own, their mourning family members are left to cope with devastating emotional trauma and severe financial consequences. Thankfully, if you’ve sustained injuries or lost a loved one in a motorcycle accident caused by another person’s negligence, you may have legal options moving forward. When your loved one has died in a preventable accident, contact an injury accident attorney in Chicago as soon as possible.
