Palatine, IL – Dump Truck Hits Power Pole, Causes Semi-Trailer Crash & Injuries on Rte 53 at Rand Rd

Palatine, IL - Dump Truck Hits Power Pole, Causes Semi-Trailer Crash & Injuries on Rte 53 at Rand Rd

Palatine, IL (May 13, 2022) – One person was seriously hurt and traffic on Route 53 was snarled for several hours after a dump truck rolled on the highway, crashing into a power line that fell and hit another vehicle in Palatine on Thursday morning, May 12.

At about 11:15 a.m., Illinois State Police were called to northbound Illinois Route 53, close to the exit at Rand Road, for a major collision involving a dump truck driver who had hit a power line and rolled the truck as a result.

Shortly thereafter, the power line fell onto a semi-truck trailer heading south on Route 53, also at Rand Road. Both sides of the highway were completely shut down as crews worked to remove the downed power line, as well as other crash debris. One person was transferred to a local hospital as well, though that victim is expected to recover.

The investigation into this truck crash is underway, and further details in connection to the incident have not been made available.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.

Illinois Semi-Truck Accidents

Semi-trucks traverse busy streets, highways, expressways and interstates, transporting goods throughout the country. Needless to say, semi-trailers are ubiquitous on our nation’s roads, but they also represent a safety risk. Because tractor-trailers are significantly larger and heavier than most other vehicles on the road, a potentially dangerous situation could arise in the event of a collision.

In fact, Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) authorities say that semi-trucks were involved in approximately 12,270 crashes in 2018 alone, with 2,070 of those incidents resulting in casualties. And while semi-truck crashes account for a relatively tiny fraction of total accidents, they account for a disproportionately significant number of fatalities.

Regardless of the circumstances surrounding a semi-truck accident, however, victims and their families pay the price when they suffer injuries as a result of the reckless conduct of others. Those who have been affected by these often-preventable accidents may feel helpless in the face of devastating mental anguish and high medical expenditures.

Fortunately, if you or a loved one has been injured in one of these situations, you may have a variety of legal alternatives available to you in the aftermath. If you’ve been involved in a Chicagoland-area truck accident that was caused by someone else’s negligence, you should contact an attorney as soon as possible.

Victims of truck accidents caused by a driver’s negligent or inattentive driving are entitled to compensation under Illinois law. For this reason and more, accident victims should seek skilled legal representation right away since collecting a reasonable monetary settlement from at-fault drivers, commercial trucking companies, or the huge conglomerates representing these trucking firms can be challenging.

Because our attorneys are knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the intricate Illinois legal system, we know what it takes to create a successful accident claim. What’s more, our experienced, sympathetic legal team will stop at nothing to ensure that you receive the full and fair compensation to which you are entitled following an avoidable accident.

If you’ve been injured in an 18-wheeler truck accident through no fault of your own, please call our Palatine personal injury attorneys as soon as possible. • "Excellent Law Firm!"

I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
