Stevenson, IL (April 29, 2023) – During the early morning hours of Saturday, April 29, the Stevenson Police Department and the Chicago Police Department responded to an accident involving two vehicles on I-55.

On the Inbound side of the interstate, police began their investigation at around 3:10 a.m. The incident was first reported to have taken place on the 1st Avenue exit ramp, and paramedics and police officers were sent to the scene to look into the situation and treat any injured individuals. The initial collision also resulted in a car fire, extinguished quickly by Chicago Fire Rescue units.

There is no official number of victims, but local news footage suggests that at least two individuals were transported to the hospital.

The police have not, however, offered any updates. The Stevenson Police Department has requested that anybody with more information on the accident contact them in the interim.
