Chicago, IL – Eight People Hospitalized After Apt Complex Explosion in South Austin

Chicago, IL - Eight People Hospitalized After Apt Complex Explosion in South Austin

Chicago, IL (September 20, 2022) – According to authorities, an explosion on the top floor of a Chicago apartment building on Tuesday resulted in the hospitalization of eight people.

According to officials, the explosion happened at 9:00 a.m. at the 36-unit, four-story apartment complex in South Austin. A few hours later, Chicago Fire Agency Deputy Chief Marc Ferman informed reporters that the department had completed its search for possible casualties and was certain that no one was still trapped in the structure, the bulk of which had fallen.

He said that technical experts had reinforced the top stories so that firemen could hunt for victims trapped behind rubble.

The reason for the explosion was yet unknown. According to Ferman, seven of those wounded were in the building on the city’s West Side at the time of the explosion, while one was presumably in the building across the street. Authorities added that three of the victims have severe to critical injuries.

A major chunk of the building’s top story was destroyed, per the Chicago Fire Department’s photographs and video footage released on Twitter. Hundreds of bricks and other debris had fallen onto the roadway, wrecking one car and severely injuring two other people on the ground.

An investigation is currently underway and active at moment.

We wish a speedy recovery to all injured victims.

  • "Excellent Law Firm!"

I cannot recommend D&W Law Group enough. From the moment I met the team, I felt confident that I was in good hands. They kept in touch with me every step of the way. My attorneys fought the insurance company, and we settled my case without having to go to court. Excellent law firm!

  • "Great Settlement"

When I had my accident, the insurance company dragged its feet. I tried to handle the case on my own. I am so glad I decided to hire D&W Law Group. They kept my case moving, and I was awarded a great settlement. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I will call them.
