Metro Bus Crashes in Illinois
Over 80 school buses, 15 municipal buses, and 75 transit buses were involved in deadly automobile collisions in 2019 alone, according to records from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Particularly in metropolitan areas, like the Chicagoland region, transit bus accidents continue to be prevalent. At least one Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) bus is involved in an accident every single day, per the most recent Illinois authorities’ study of the data.
When an accident involving a bus takes place, it is not uncommon for there to be a large number of claimants, each of whom may have had unique injuries that require different degrees of medical treatment. What’s more, the sheer size and power of a bus make it much more likely for victims of these accidents to sustain a wide variety of serious injuries, including but not limited to severe whiplash, damage to the spinal cord, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and more.
