Volo, IL (May 27, 2022) – Two Chicago women were sent to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash that took place on Thursday afternoon, May 26, on Route 12 in the Volo area.
The injured women, the driver and the passenger in a 2011 Honda SUV, were both transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry with serious injuries. The passenger, a 79-year-old woman, was later airlifted via medical helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she is still hospitalized.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Honda was hit at about 1:30 p.m. by another driver, a 19-year-old Volo man behind the wheel of a 2004 Ford pickup.
Both vehicles were entering the southbound lanes on the 32200 block of Route 12, authorities added, though the events immediately preceding the collision are still unclear.
The driver of the Ford was evaluated by medics at the scene but found not to be hurt.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit is still investigating at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured women and their families. We hope for their full, fast recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Car Accidents Across Illinois
Every year, there are approximately 2.5 million accidents at intersections and on major highways, according to reports from officials with the Federal Highway Administration. The majority of these mishaps are caused by drivers who are either inattentive or are trying to turn left. In fact, nearly 43% of all automobile accidents that take place in the United States take place at these crossroads, according to the authorities.
Unfortunately, Cook County is home to a high number of car accidents, the majority of which take place at junctions that see a high volume of traffic. In addition, the authorities of the state have indicated that around 25% of all car accidents that take place in the state of Illinois take place in the metropolitan region of Chicago and the surrounding areas.
If another person’s carelessness causes an accident victim to incur injuries, the victim may wind up paying for it in every meaning of the term. Regardless of the factors that led to the accident, victims are often forced to traverse a treacherous road, one that is laden with devastating psychological and financial stress as well as costly medical bills.
If a victim of an automobile accident in Illinois sustains injuries as a result of another driver’s inattentive or reckless driving, the person has the legal right to demand financial compensation. That’s why it is imperative that people who have been injured in accidents get the services of competent legal representation.
