Chicago, IL (October 2, 2022) – The Chicago Police Department was called to the scene of a crash between two cars on the right shoulder of northbound Interstate 57 on Sunday evening, October 2nd.
Officers began their investigation at 8:20 p.m. on I-57 at the 127th Street exit. Authorities that arrived on the scene reported long backups of traffic on Dixie Highway, and paramedics hurried to the scene to investigate the situation and treat any injured people. The collision caused a vehicle fire, which was put out by Chicago Fire Rescue units shortly thereafter.
There has been no confirmed injury toll, though broadcast footage appeared to show at least two people being transported to a nearby hospital.
