Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Chicago
Chicago is home to about three million residents and is the third most populous area in the United States. Naturally, it is expected that there are also a substantial number of pedestrians in and around the city on a daily basis. With this comes the possibility of a serious crash involving these pedestrians. According to statistics, pedestrian accident deaths account for about half of all traffic fatalities reported in Chicago. The number of pedestrian crash deaths generally ranges between 30 and 40. In addition to fatal accidents, many other pedestrians will be seriously injured when they are struck by a vehicle.
Both drivers and pedestrians can take important steps to ensure safety. Pedestrians should be aware of their surroundings at all times. If possible, a pedestrian should avoid walking at night or in poorly-lit areas where they are less likely to be visible to drivers. A driver should always use care and caution, especially when traveling in areas where pedestrians are known to frequent, including schools and busy shopping centers.

Pedestrian accident cases can present difficult questions of who was at fault for the accident. The driver may try to say that they did everything they could to avoid hitting a pedestrian.
