Chicago, IL (May 11, 2023) – On Thursday afternoon, a police SUV in Chicago rolled over following an apparent multi-vehicle accident on the city’s West Side.
Officers with the Chicago Police Department, together with troopers with the Illinois State Police, said the incident occurred near the intersection of West North Avenue and Harlem Avenue in the Oak Park area.
Early reports indicate that the collision involved another vehicle. News footage further showed the broken front windshield of a separate car.
One law enforcement official was injured but is expected to recover. Officials’ sources did not say whether any other victims were injured, though an investigation still remains active.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery.
Chicago’s Rate of Injury Car Accidents
Every year, the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) receives reports of almost 2.5 million accidents on major highways, interstates, and other high-traffic locations involving numerous drivers. Driver negligence and improper left-hand turns account for the vast majority of these incidents. Government figures show that nearly 43% of all United States car accidents occur at these intersections.
Unfortunately, many incidents on Cook County’s roads occur at the county’s busiest intersections. According to local authorities, one-quarter of all traffic accidents in Illinois occur in and around the Chicago metropolitan area.
When someone else’s negligence results in an injury, the burden of dealing with the aftermath falls squarely on the shoulders of the victim and their loved ones. This is true regardless of what led to the accident. The sufferers must endure mental agony, physical pain, and the strain of paying for all of it.
You may be able to take legal action if you or a loved one were hurt in one of these incidents or if someone you care about died as a result.
Contacting a Chicago automobile accident attorney as soon as possible after an accident that wasn’t your fault is highly recommended.
In Illinois, you may seek monetary compensation for injuries sustained in an automobile accident caused by another driver’s negligence or attention. Accident victims in Illinois should hire an experienced attorney since getting full and fair financial compensation from drivers or their insurance companies may be challenging.
