Chicago, IL (May 20, 2023) – Two cars collided in the McKinley Park area on Friday, critically injuring a child and several other victims.
At around 4:30 p.m. on Ashland Avenue at 35th Street, a 16-year-old boy was driving southbound in an SUV while a 43-year-old woman was traveling north in a sedan at the same time. The teen then struck the other driver as she attempted to make a left turn onto 35th Street.
The teen was taken into custody. The other driver was unharmed, but a male passenger, aged 42, was transferred to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in fair condition after suffering minor injuries. However, a 3-year-old child in the vehicle was taken to the same hospital in serious condition after suffering a head injury.
The Major Accident Investigation Unit of the Chicago Police Department is looking into the accident and has not provided further details.
