Rosemont-area Auto Accident Fatalities
Red-light runners are annually responsible for hundreds of deaths and tens of thousands of injuries. More than 900 people were killed in crashes due to reckless drivers running red lights in 2020. The majority of red-light runners’ victims were pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers of other vehicles. In addition, an estimated 115,700 people were injured in incidents involving red-light running in 2020.
A driver has broken the law if he or she arrives at an intersection after the traffic signal has turned red. Drivers who are inadvertently present at a crossroads when the light turns red (for instance, while waiting to turn left) are not considered to have run a red light.
In regions where a right turn on a red light is permitted, vehicles that fail to come to a complete stop before turning may be deemed to have violated the red light law. Those who turn right on red at limited intersections are also in violation.
These and other types of traffic accidents are all too prevalent in and around Cook County, with the vast majority occurring at high-traffic junctions and major thoroughfares or interstates. Recent state statistics indicate that more than a quarter of all auto accidents in Illinois occur in the Chicago metropolitan area.
Consequently, persons injured in motor vehicle collisions caused by the carelessness of another must often pay for their own medical treatment. If that’s not bad enough, those suffering from injuries must also struggle with the mental pain brought on by escalating medical bills, horrible physical injuries causing nagging pain, and a variety of financial issues.
